Fruit Cake

  1. Beat egg whites until stiff, set aside. Beat egg yolks in another bowl, set aside.
  2. In the mixer bowl, beat butter until soft, add sugar gradually and blend until creamy. Add beaten egg yolks, then beaten egg whites, beating after each addition until batter is smooth. Put soda in buttermilk and add gradually. To sifted flour, add salt and spices. Gradually add to batter, mixing thoroughly. Add chopped fruits, nuts, and raisins. Use Angel food pan. Bake at 350 degrees until done, about 1 hr. 20 min.
