Black Bean Soup

  1. Cook bacon over medium-high heat in large sauce pan until crisp or cook diced ham in pan with 1 tsp of butter.
  2. Remove to paper towel, put aside
  3. Add onion and garlic to drippings cook and stir 3 min.
  4. Add beans, broth water, 3/4 cup picate sauce, salt and oregano.
  5. Cover simmer 20 minutes.
  6. Ladle into soup bowls add a spoon of sour cream to top with bacon or ham also to top garnish with green fresh basal (optional).
  7. Serve with picante crackers or crusty bread.
