Strawberries And Cream Flan/Torte

  1. Cream butter and sugar in small bowl until fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla. Mix in flour and salt. Spread batter evenly in greased and floured flan pan. Bake at 350 degrees F until cake is golden and springs back when touched, about 14 minutes. Cool on a wire rack; remove from pan when completely cool. Make pastry cream.
  2. Place cake on serving plate; pread pastry cream in center. Arrange fruit in a decorative pattern over pastry cream. Refrigerate until serving time.
  3. Garnish with whipped cream when serving.
  4. NOTE: Any fresh or canned drained fruit can be used in this recipe.
