Beef And Broccoli
- 2 1/2 lb. chuck roast or round steak
- 1/4 c. vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 pkg. brown gravy mix
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 bunch fresh broccoli (2 1/2 lb.)
- 1 (1 lb.) can bean sprouts
- 1 (6 oz.) can water chestnuts, sliced
- Slice meat in strips.
- Quickly cook beef in hot oil until meat loses its redness.
- Remove meat and place in a shallow bowl. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and garlic powder.
- Prepare brown gravy mix according to package directions and add to pan juices with remaining soy sauce.
- Add meat and juices to gravy. Cook slowly for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cook broccoli until just a fraction underdone.
- Drain.
- Add to meat and gravy with bean sprouts and water chestnuts.
- Stir gently; heat through. Serve over rice.
