Swedish Meatballs
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 3/4 c. dry bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 tsp. beef base or beef bouillon
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. chopped onions
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 c. half and half cream
- Mix beef, pork, bread crumbs, milk, egg, onion, salt, nutmeg and pepper.
- Shape mixture into 1-inch balls.
- Place meatballs on ungreased 10 x 15 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
- Bake uncovered in preheated 350u0b0 oven for about 20 minutes.
- Remove meatballs; keep warm.
- Place 3 tablespoons pan drippings in saucepan; stir in flour.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in water, half and half and beef base or bouillon.
- Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
- Boil and stir 1 minute.
- Pour gravy over meatballs.
