Honey Mustard Oatmeal Bread
- 3 1/4 cup white flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 package dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 egg
- 1) Mix 1 cup of the flour, the oats, butter, mustard, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl or mixer.
- 2) Meanwhile, heat the water in a small saucepan over medium heat until it's at 120-130 F. Add the water to the mixed ingredients and mix for a couple minutes. Add the egg until combined. Add enough flour to make dough easy to handle with hands.
- 3) Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes until it forms a ball easily. Place in a greased bowl (use butter or a light tasting oil), turn over once to coat, and let rise in a warm area for 1 1/2 hours until doubled in size.
- 4) Punch down dough and let rest five minutes. Form into a ball, place in greased pie plate and flatten slightly. Sprinkle with oats and let rise until nearly doubled. Preheat oven to 375 F.
- 5) Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and sounds hollow when tapped on top.
- Enjoy!
