Mouthwatering Molasses Cookies
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup dark molasses
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- Raw sugar for rolling cookies
- 1. In a mixing bowl, add the sugar to the melted butter and beat until well mixed.
- 2. Beat in the egg and molasses.
- 3. Sift together dry ingredients.
- 4. Add dry ingredients to butter molasses mixture gradually and beat until well combined.
- 5. Chill at least 1-2 hours.
- 6. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- 7. Roll the chilled cookie dough into small walnut-sized balls. Roll the balls in the raw sugar and place 3 inches apart on greased or nonstick baking sheets.
- 8. Bake until set and just beginning to brown on edges, about 8-10 minutes. *Cook until tops are cracked all over, but still a bit gooey in center. *Do not overbake !!
- 9. Cool for 2-3 minutes on baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
