Lamb Meatballs With Yogurt Sauce
- meatballs:
- 2 tbsp chopped garlic
- 2 tbsp chopped onion
- 2 tbsp grated ginger
- 2 tbsp cumin
- 2 tsp salt & 2 tsp pepper
- 1 1/2 lb ground lamb
- 1 egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Sauce:
- 1 1/2 cups (14 oz.) Greek yogurt
- 1 lemon zest, shredded
- 2 tbsp chopped mint
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp course salt
- 1/2 tbsp chopped garlic
- 1. In a large bowl, combine spices, egg, garlic and onion. Add meat and then add breadcrumbs gradually (use less than 1 cup of breadcrumbs if the mixture is dry) and gently combine with hands until spices are just evenly distributed. Do not overmix.
- 2. Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Gently roll meat into either large (2 inch) or small (1 inch)and fry in oil until browned; remove and dry with paper towels, then place on a baking pan, and place in oven for 10 minutes.
- 4. Serve with yogurt sauce & pitas.
