Pastel Candied Fruit Peel

  1. Removetrapefruit
  2. sections.
  3. Cover
  4. grapefruit shells with water
  5. in
  6. saucepan.
  7. Bring
  8. to a boil.
  9. Boil 15 minutes. Drain. Carefully
  10. remove any remaining pulp or membrane.
  11. Cut peel into thin
  12. slices,
  13. about
  14. 1/4-inch
  15. wide.
  16. Again
  17. place grapefruit peel
  18. in
  19. saucepan, cover with water and boil until tender.
  20. Mix Jell-O
  21. with 2 cups water in heavy skillet.
  22. Add prepared peel and
  23. spices.
  24. Bring
  25. to a boil, reduce heat and continue stirring occasionally until peels are translucent and syrup is
  26. almost absorbed 30 to 45 minutes.temove from heat; lift peels
  27. from skillet with slotted spoon.
  28. Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar;
  29. toss lightly.
  30. Arrange
  31. pieces in single layer on waxed paper-lined trays.
  32. Let dry about 12 hours or overnight. Store in tightly covered container.takes about 1 pound.
