Mexican Beef Tacos
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1 can tomato sauce (use all or part)
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 tablespoon cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Flour or corn tortillas
- Any toppings you would like - diced tomatoes, salsa, guacamole, shredded cheese, lettuce, etc.
- Fry ground beef and onions until beef is cooked through. Drain off fat. Add enough tomato sauce until all meat is moistened but not runny. Add spices and stir. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- For flour tortillas:
- Warm in microwave or oven.
- For corn tortillas:
- Add 1/4 inch oil to cast iron skillet. Heat on high until hot. Cook corn tortillas, about 10 seconds per side, until slightly crisp but not browned. Remove from pan and fold over immediately (in half). Drain/cool on paper towels.
