Cranberry Cherry Relish/Chutney
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups raisins
- 1 orange (unpeeled), quartered, seeded, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
- 1 lemon (unpeeled), quartered, seeded, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
- 1 cup drained canned pitted dark sweet cherries
- 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
- 1/2 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
- Combine all ingredients except cranberries in heavy large saucepan. Bring mixture to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Add cranberries and simmer until they begin to pop, about 5 more minutes. Remove cinnamon stick. Cover and refrigerate until cold. (Can be prepared 1 week ahead.)
