Joy'S Bread

  1. Pour 3 cups boiling water on first five ingredients.
  2. When the butter has melted, stir in the milk and the yeast.
  3. Add the whole wheat flour and enough white flour to form a dough that can be kneaded.
  4. (Uncooked oatmeal and/or cooked mashed potatoes can be added with the milk.
  5. Then decrease the white flour as necessary. For a real treat, whole walnuts or hazelnuts can be added with the milk.)
  6. Knead.
  7. Let rise until double in bulk, punch down and let rise again.
  8. Punch down and form into about five loaves.
  9. Let rise. Bake about 45 minutes at 350u0b0.
  10. Bread will sound hollow when rapped with knuckles.
