Moms Northern Italian Meat Sauce
- 3 alices bacon cut up
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb veal or pork
- 1 28 oz can tomatoes
- 2-3 chicken livers cut up
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup carrots
- 1/4 cup parsley
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp instant chicken bouillon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1/3 cup light cream Optional
- In dutch oven cook bacon till crisp add all meats and drain off fat. Add tomatoes liver, onions, carrots, celery, parsley, tomato paste, bouillon, nutmeg 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper to meat mixture Stir in wine and 1/4 cup H2O
- Boil uncovered 45-60 minutes Before serving pour in 1/3 cup light cream or milk if desired.
