Bible Cake(Behold There Was A Cake Baken. 1 Kings 19:6)
- 1/2 c. almonds (Genesis 43:11)
- 1 c. raisins (1 Samuel 30:12)
- 1 c. figs (1 Samuel 30:12)
- 2 c. sifted flour, reserve some for fruit
- 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten (Isaiah 10:14)
- 1 1/2 c. sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)
- 1/2 c. butter (Judges 5:25)
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (1 Kings 10:10)
- 1/2 tsp. mace (1 Kings 10:10)
- 1/2 tsp. cloves (1 Kings 10:10)
- 1/2 tsp. salt (Leviticus 2:13)
- 3 egg yolks (Isaiah 10:14)
- 2 tsp. baking powder (Luke 13:21)
- 1/2 c. water (Genesis 24:11)
- 1 Tbsp. honey (Proverbs 24:13)
- Grease and flour a 9 1/2-inch tube pan.
- Chop nuts and fruit fine; flour well with flour from the 2 cups.
- Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry; set aside.
- In mixing bowl, blend butter, sugar, spices and salt.
- Beat egg yolks and add.
- Sift in baking powder and flour; add water and honey.
- Stir in floured nuts and fruits; beat.
- Fold into well beaten mixture the egg whites.
- Pour batter into pan.
- Bake 30 to 60 minutes at 375u0b0.
