Amy Sharpe'S Chocolate Sheet Cake And Icing
- Cake:
- 2 cup sugar
- 2 cup plain (all-purpose) flour
- 2 sticks of butter or margarine
- 1 cup water
- 3.5 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Icing:
- 1 stick margarine or butter
- 1/3 cup milk
- 3.5 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans)
- Cake preparation:
- Preheat oven 400 degrees. Flour and grease pan.
- Mix sugar and flour.
- Over low heat, melt together butter, water and cocoa.
- Mix the melted mixture into the flour/sugar.
- Add buttermilk, soda, beaten eggs and vanilla.
- Pour into sheet cake pan and back for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
- ICING preparation:
- Melt together butter, mild and cocoa. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, nuts.
- Pour on the cake HOT from the oven.
