Bread Pudding
- 1 qt. cubed leftover bread (day-old sweet buns or even Danish will do)
- 1 qt. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 4 oz. melted butter
- 6 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
- dash of salt and pepper
- 3 Tbsp. vanilla
- juice of 2 whole lemons
- Lemon Sauce (recipe follows)
- Put the bread cubes in a large bowl along with raisins and cover with the scalded milk.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter; beat the eggs, then add the ingredients to the bowl along with the sugar, vanilla and lemon juice.
- Mix well.
- Pour into a suitable baking dish, then put that in a large pan and add enough hot water to reach up the outer sides of the baking dish.
- Bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 45 minutes.
- Serve warm with Lemon Sauce.
