Caramel Bars
- 1 package of wrapped caramels (14 oz.) approx. 48
- 1 package of semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz.)
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups instant oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- Heat caramels and water in microwave, 2 minutes on high, stir and then 1 - 2 minutes more until melted and smooth.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix flour, oats, brown sugar, butter, baking soda, and salt. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture.
- Press remaining mixture into bottom of ungreased baking pan (9 X 13) and bake 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle baked layer with chocolate chips and drizzle with caramel mixture. Sprinkle reserved mixture on top and bake for about 15 minutes until lightly browned. Cool slightly and cut into bars.
