Easy Brown Rice Pasta
- 1 package brown rice pasta (be sure to read the label to make sure there's no wheat added in)
- 1 lb ground bison or organic beef (optional)
- If not using meat, choose some veggies to steam cauliflower,
- broccoli,
- carrots, etc) and serve as a side.
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- salt and pepper to taste
- In a large skillet over medium heat oil.
- Fry onions until the begin to soften.
- Add garlic until tender (not much more than a minute).
- (Optional) Add the meat and cook until brown.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and spices and simmer.
- Season with salt and pepper and cook 30 minutes, until slightly thickened (the longer you can let it simmer, the more flavourful it will be).
- Boil pasta as per package instructions.
- If you are not using any meat, I suggest lightly steaming some additional vegetable as a side.
