Sweet Cherry And Chickpea Ravioli/Streudel
- Filling
- 1 can (15 oz) chick peas, rinsed and drained
- 3/8 c thick-style cherry jam or preserves (e.g.brandied cranberries)
- 1/4 finely chopped semisweet chocolate
- 3 Tbl confectioner's sugar for dusting
- Finely grated zest from 1 lemon
- 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
- Generous pinch cinnamon or five spice
- dough - see original recipe or filo pastry (1/2 - 1 box)
- butter, melted
- Almond, finely ground
- Additional add-ins to filling
- finely cut apple

- Mash chickpeas with a fork in bowl.
- Add jam, chocolate, sugar, zest, salt and spices; stir to combine; add other ingredients of used
- Heat oven to 350 with rack in middle
- (Line a baking sheet with parchment paper)
- Take 2 sheets filo pastry - brush with melted butter and dust with ground almonds
- Repeat twice.
- Put length of filling along one end, and roll, tucking in ends - should make 2 rolls
- Brush top with butter and bake
- Can also make turnover-size triangles, start by folding one filo sheet in half length-wise, and put filling in one corner. Fold over in triangles til end of filo
