Strawberry Blonde Bread
- 12 oz Strawberry Blonde Ale
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1.5 cups bread flour
- 1 Tbsp yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp water
- In a small saucepan bring to a boil and simmer the ale for 5 minutes to remove the carbonation.
- Add the butter and honey to the hot ale and stir until mixed. Allow the liquid to cool to 120 degree F.
- Combine flour, yeast and salt in a large bowl and mix. Make a well in the center and pour the warm liquid into it. With a large wooden spoon stir the liquid, gradually drawing in the flour. When the batter becomes too stiff to stir with a spoon begin to knead with your hands. If the dough is too wet add a small amount of flour. If it is too dry, add a small amour of water.
- Knead for 5 minutes. Cover in a bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise until it has doubled in volume (about 1 hour).
- Punch down the dough and knead for 5 minutes. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan to rise a 2nd time. Let it rise until it doubles in size.
- About 10 minutes before the dough is ready, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Beat 1 egg with 1 Tbsp water and brush the top of the loaf. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
