California Barbecued Steak

  1. Put steak in a plastic food bag.
  2. If using flank steak, score top diagonally
  3. on
  4. both
  5. sides.
  6. Combine
  7. catsup, chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, if using, green onions, garlic, salt and pepper
  8. in
  9. a
  10. small
  11. bowl;
  12. mix
  13. well.
  14. Pour mixture into bag with
  15. steak.
  16. Fasten securely with wire tape. Place bag in a
  17. shallow
  18. pan.
  19. Let marinate in refrigerator 24 hours, turning occasionally.
  20. Lift
  21. steak out of marinade, pat with paper toweling.
  22. Broil
  23. 4

  26. heat,
  27. brushing several times with marinade,
  28. about 8 minutes on each side for rare for sirloin and 5
  29. minutes each side for flank steak.
  30. If doing on grill put steak

  34. grayed coals and do same amount of time.
