Seven Layer Dip Burgers

  1. For the burgers:
  2. Combine the spices and the meat; mix well.
  3. Form into six patties and cook over medium high heat (either on the stovetop or on the grill) for four minutes on each side for medium rare.
  4. Top with cheese during the last minute to melt.
  5. For the guacamole:
  6. Split the avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pit.
  7. Remove the flesh of the fruit and mash lightly with a fork, leaving some chunks.
  8. Mix in onion, lime juice, garlic, and salt and pepper*.
  9. Cover with plastic wrap to prevent browning until ready to use.
  10. To assemble burgers:
  11. Spread guacamole on the bottom buns and sour cream on the top bun.
  12. Top each bottom bun with a burger, and garnish with sliced tomatoes and shredded lettuce.
  13. *Finely chopped fresh jalapenos can be added if more heat is desired
  14. **Cheddar cheese is traditionally used in seven layer dip, but pepper jack cheese could be used as a tasty substitution.
