Meatballs In Spinach Sauce
- For the meatballs:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 teaspoon ground caraway
- 1/2 vegetable oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Spices:
- 1/3 teaspoon ground cardammon
- 1/3 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/3 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- For the sauce:
- 10-ounce package pureed spinach
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 thinly sliced small chili pepper
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup boiling water
- salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Mix meat, yogurt, caraway, oil and salt.
- Combine spices.
- Mix 1/4 teaspoon of the spices mix into the meat mix, blend well, and form small meatballs.
- Fry onion in oil, add meatballs and brown evenly. Add spinach, ginger, chili and milk. Cook for 5 minutes. Add water and salt to taste. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- To serve, sprinkle with lemon juice and remaining spices.
