Hasan Pasha Meatballs

  1. Combine the beef with the onion, garlic, bread, egg, parsley, cumin, salt and pepper and mix well. Shape into 12 meatballs. Flatten them a bit and make a hole in the center with your thumb. Place them in a large, buttered ovendish.
  2. In the meanwhile boil the potatoes in salted water until done. Drain and mash with the butter, paprika and some salt and pepper. Fill each hole in the meatballs with a little bit of mashed potato, using a teaspoon.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Bake the meatballs for 30 minutes.
  4. Stir together the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water and a little bit of salt. Take the dish out of the oven and poor the tomato mixture over the meatballs. Put some grated Mozzarella on each meatball. Bake for another 15 minutes.
  5. Serve with rice and a green salad.
