Ester'S Chocolate-Hazelnut Dream Bars (Parve)

  1. For bottom: Beat egg whites until foamy. add sugar gradually and beat until stiff. Add the ground nuts. Bake on a lightly greased jelly roll style cookie sheet or a 13- by 9-inch pan at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
  2. For Topping: Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave with the sugar. Remove and add the margarine alternately with the egg yolks, beating until smooth. Remove and add the margarine alternately with the egg yolk, beating until smooth. Remove cake from oven and while still warm, pour, or carefully spoon the chocolate mixture evenly over the cake. Place back in the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, testing to make sure cake is dry inside. Cool thoroughly and cut into bars.
