Mahogany Chiffon Cake(Family Favorite)

  1. Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
  2. Place 2 packets of chocolate into small bowl.
  3. Add boiling water and stir until blended.
  4. Mix all dry ingredients.
  5. Make a well.
  6. Add oil, egg yolks, vanilla and chocolate mixture in this order.
  7. Beat mixture until smooth.
  8. Add cream of tartar to the egg whites.
  9. Beat until stiff.
  10. Gently fold egg whites into other mixture and continue to gently blend egg whites into the mixture.
  11. Slowly pour entire mixture into ungreased tube pan.
  12. Bake at 325u0b0 for 55 minutes.
  13. Bake at 350u0b0 for an additional 15 minutes.
  14. Remove from oven.
  15. Cool inverted for several hours.
  16. Make buttercream frosting and frost before serving. This is a large cake and goes far.
