Apple Pie
- Crust (makes 2 pies)
- 6c Sifted Flour
- 1-1/2t Salt
- 1# Lard (room temp)
- 1 egg
- 2T Vinegar
- Filling (makes 2 pies)
- 12-14 medium tart apples
- 2c Sugar
- 4T Flour
- 2t cinnamon
- Dash of nutmeg
- Dash of Salt
- 4T Butter
- Crust (makes 2 pies)
- Add egg and 2T Vinegar plus enough H2O to make 1c liquid. Beat with fork.
- Place lard in large mixing bowl. Add flour and salt and lastly egg mixture. Blend with pastry blender.
- Filling
- Peel apple and slice thin. Combine sugar, flour, spices, and salt. Mix with apples.
- Line 9" pie tin with pastry. Fill with apple mixture. Dot with butter. Apply top crust.
- Bake at 400 deg for 50 min. Put a pizza pan under to catch boil over.
