Brie, Apple And Almond Baguette
- 1 long small round french baguette (1.5 inch diameter)
- about 8 oz french brie cheese
- 3-4 granny smith apples or golden delicious apples(cored,peeled and sliced 1/8 inch thick into wedges)
- 3 tbs unsalted butter
- light brown sugar
- slivered toasted almonds
- 1) Cut bread into 1/4 inch thick rounds. Toast the bread pieces on a cookie sheet in a preheated 250 degree oven for 8 min or until crisp on outside but not browned. Remove from oven.
- 2) Cut the brie into rounds slightly smaller than bread slices. Set Aside.
- 3)In a saute pan, melt butter over med/low heat sprinkle 1 tbs brown sugar on top of butter, add apple wedges in single layer,sprinkle 1 tbs brown sugar over top of apples,saute until golden brown turning once or twice until carmelized. Remove from heat.
- 3) Place the brie rounds on reserved bread slices. Broil the rounds till golden and puffed 1 to 2 minutes.
- 4)Remove brie/bread from oven and top each slice with the apple wedge (if apple wedge is to large cut in half) then top with slivered toasted almonds.
- Serve on a platter or as an appetizer.
