Chocolate Toffee Bars
- BASE
- 1 (18.25 oz) pkg of Yellow Cake Mix
- 1/2 cup of butter, softened
- 1 egg
- FILLING
- 1 (14 oz) can of sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 cup toffee bits
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1/2 cup choc chips
- 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
- PREPARATION DIRECTIONS:
- 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine all base ingredients; blend at low speed until crumbly. Press in bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
- 2. While the cake is baking, in the same bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, (not evaporated) vanilla and 1 egg; mix well. Stir in toffee bits, pecans and both chips. Pour filling evenly over warm base.
- 3. Return to oven; bake an additional 20-25 minutes or until filling is set. Cool completely. Cut into squares. If desired, top with powdered sugar. Store in refrigerator and enjoy.
