New York Strip Steak W/Portabellas
- 1-lb boneless New York strip steak, 1-in thick
- 1/4 tsp each salt and black pepper
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
- 1/2 tsp dried marjoram, thyme, or oregano (based on preferences)
- 1 tsp minced fresh garlic
- 1 (10-oz package) sliced baby Portabella mushrooms
- 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- Remove excess liquid with paper towels. Tenderize both sides with a meat mallet until you reached desired level of tenderness. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
- Grill steak over medium heat, about 4 inches from heat. Cook 6 minutes on each side (medium well), adding more time as needed.
- Meanwhile, in a large, heavy skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and marjoram (or other preferred spice) and cook 2 minutes. Add garlic and cook only until fragrant, 30 seconds.
- Add mushrooms and stir-fry until soft and glistening. Stir in balsamic vinegar and remove from heat. Spoon mushrooms over steak, plate it on a nice serving platter, and enjoy.
