Spagetti And Meat Balls
- 3/4 cups onions
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cups tomatoes
- 12 ounces tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 slices dry bread
- 2 eggs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon basil- dried
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash pepper
- Cook onion and garlic in olive oil.
- Stir in remaining ingredients.
- Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
- Remove the bay leaf.
- For the meatballs: Soak the bread in water for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Squeeze out the water.
- Combine the bread with the remaining ingredients except the olive oil.
- Mix well.
- Form into balls.
- Fry the balls in oil to brown.
- Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 30 minutes.
