Italian Sausage And Peppershouston, Texas
- 1 lb. pkg. fresh Italian sausage (I prefer mild)
- 1 lb. pkg. pasta, cooked and drained (Rotelle is good)
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 c. onion, chopped
- 3/4 c. green bell pepper, cut into strips
- 3/4 c. red bell pepper, cut into strips
- 1/4 tsp. dried basil, or several sprigs fresh, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, mashed or 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 c. prepared spaghetti sauce
- Puncture sausage and simmer in 1/4 c. water in a fairly deep fry pan for about 15 minutes or until all color has changed. Uncover and raise heat to evaporate water.
- Brown the sausage and slice into 2 lengths.
- Stir in onion, peppers, garlic, basil and spaghetti sauce.
- Cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. While cooking, boil and drain pasta (uses a stockpot).
- Toss together.
