Sesame Cumin Bow Ties

  1. Heat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Combine cumin and salt.
  3. Sprinkle 1/2 of the salt mixture and 1 tablespoon of the sesame seed over lightly floured work surface.
  4. Place pastry on top.
  5. Sprinkle pastry with remaining salt mixture and sesame seed.
  6. Roll pastry into a rectangle approximately 11 x 14-inch.
  7. While rolling pastry, press sesame seed into the pastry.
  8. With a sharp knife, cut pastry crosswise into strips about 1 inch wide and cut each long strip into 4 short ones.
  9. Take each strip, twist and pinch center to form a bow tie.
  10. Place about 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  11. Beat egg white with 1 tablespoon of water and brush over top of bow ties. Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
  12. Makes 52 bow ties.
