Chocolate Crinkles
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 2/3 c. granulated sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- sifted confectioners sugar
- Preheat oven to moderate 350u0b0 (175u0b0C) if you use shiny metal cookie sheet.
- Or, heat to 325u0b0 (165u0b0C) for dark metal sheet. Cream together thoroughly the shortening, sugar and vanilla.
- Beat in eggs.
- Beat chocolate.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
- Measure milk; blend in dry ingredients with milk.
- Add nuts.
- Chill 3 hours.
- Form 1-inch balls.
- Roll in confectioners sugar.
- Place on greased cookie sheet, 2 or 3 inches apart.
- Place cookies in center of oven.
- Bake for about 15 minutes.
- Cool cookies slightly.
- Remove from the cookie sheet with turner; place on racks or paper toweling to cool.
