Mom'S Lasagna
- 1 pound ground beef (the fatty kind)
- 1/2 pound ground pork sausage (Jimmy Dean regular)
- 3/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 cans 8 oz. cans tomato sauce (Hunt's regular)
- 1/2 - 2/3 jar Ragu traditional
- 1 red wine to taste
- 1 salt to taste
- 1 garlic salt to taste
- 1 sugar to taste
- 1 cream cheese 8 oz package
- 3/4 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 8 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
- 1 mozzarella cheese slices (6 oz package)
- 1 Hormel pepperoni slices
- Cook beef, pork, and onions till done. Drain. Season with salt and garlic salt. Add tomato sauce and tomato paste and a fair amount of Ragu. (maybe 1/2 to 2/3 small jar). Add red wine. Let simmer. Add sugar to taste. Takes a fair amount. Let simmer again and taste.
- Mix softened cream cheese with mixer till smooth. Stir in ricotta, sour cream, and egg. I always do an extra 1/2 of this recipe cuz we like extra cheesy taste.
- Will need about 8 noodles. Cook al dente.
- Place 4 lasagna noodles in greased 13x9x2 in baking dish. Spoon layer of cheesy filling on top. Spread meat sauce on top of that. Spread layer of shredded mozzarella. Do all layers again. Put pepperoni slices on top. Cover. Bake at 350 till bubbling all through. Takes at least 1 hour. Add sliced cheese on top and let melt. Try to bake on a cookie sheet covered in aluminum foil. It will spill over and smoke otherwise.
