Spiced Apple Toddy
- Spiced Simple Syrup:
- 1 Tablespoon ground nutmeg
- 3 cinnamon sticks or 1 1/2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 3-4 Tablespoons canned pumpkin
- Combine spices with water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Strain out spices - in a fine sieve, cheesecloth, or coffee filter. Place seasoned water back in saucepan, adding sugar and pumpkin mixing well. Simmer for another 10 minutes. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
- This simple syrup is deliciously versatile!! Try adding a few tablespoons to your morning coffee, a homemade latte, or hot apple cider whenever you like. Top with whip cream or a yummy non-dairy topping and you've got YUM in a mug! Or drizzle over a scoop of ice cream for a tasty dessert.
