Nanny'S Raisin Bread
- 3 cups Black Tea - Orange Pekoe
- 2 cups Raisins
- 1 packet Yeast
- 1 tablespoon White Sugar
- 1 cups Warm Water
- 1 cup Oatmeal
- 1 cup Molassese
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 8 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon All Spice
- 1/4 teaspoon Cloves
- Soak raisins in black tea for a couple hours or overnight.
- Prepare Yeast mixture by combining yeast packet, warm water and sugar. Let stand for 20 mins until frothy.
- Combine oatmeal, butter and molasses together.
- In a separate bowl combine flour, salt and spices.
- Grease 3 loaf pans with butter
- Combine soaked raisins and tea mixture with yeast and molasses mixtures in a large bowl. Mix well.
- Begin to fold in flour mixture into the wet ingredients. Be sure not to over kneed the dough.
- Cut dough into three equal parts and place in greased loaf pans.
- Cover and let dough rise until twice the size in a warm location.
- Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 mins.
- Brush top of bread with butter and bake 5 more mins, until golden brown.
