German Chocolate Cake

  1. Cream together margarine and sugar.
  2. Add egg yolks, beating thoroughly after each addition.
  3. Add salt and soda to flour.
  4. Then add buttermilk alternately, with flour mixture.
  5. Melt over low heat chocolate in 1/2 C water.
  6. Add vanilla and cool.
  7. Add chocolate mixture to batter.
  8. Mix well.
  9. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  10. Pour into greased and floured pans, and bake in 350u0b0 degree over 30 to 35 minutes.
  11. Makes 2 10" or 3 8" layers.
