Asian Grilled Steak On Sesame Slaw
- STEAK
- 3lb tri-tip or flank steak
- 1/4 soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Chinese 5 Spice
- 2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- Juice and zest of 1 orange
- 1 Tbsp fresh ginger minced
- 1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced
- DRESSING
- 1/4c canola oil
- 2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/4C toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- SESAME SLAW
- 1/2 head green cabbage, sliced
- 1/2 head red cabbage, sliced
- 1/2 red onion finely chopped
- 1 large carrot, shredded
- 1/2# fresh bean sprouts
- Combine following ingredients for the steak marinade: soy sauce, Chinese 5 spice, vegetable oil, minced garlic, sesame oil, brown sugar, juice and zest of orange, fresh minced ginger, sliced green onions in a plastic bag. Add the steak, seal bag and marinate at least 2 hours. Heat grill and cook steak 8 to 10 minutes per side depending on the thickness. Remove from the grill and allow to rest 5 minutes before slicing. Serve steak over the sesame slaw.
- Whisk all dressing ingredients together in a bowl.
- In a large mixing bowl combine the cabbages, red onion, carrot and bean sprouts. Toss the salad ingredients with the dressing. Refrigerate up to 1 hour before serving.
