Chocolate Pie

  1. In medium pan, add cornstarch, sugar, salt, and cocoa.
  2. Mix well. Add milk and stir well.
  3. Add egg yolks.
  4. Mix completely.
  5. Cook over med heat, stirring constantly until mixture starts to thicken and boil.
  6. Cook 1 minute more, stirring quickly.
  7. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla.
  8. Cool slightly, pour into baked pie shell.
  9. Set aside.
  10. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
  11. Add 4 Tbsp sugar and beat until very stiff.
  12. Spoon onto pie, making sure to touch edges with meringue.
  13. Cool and serve cold.
