Orange Slice Cake
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 lb. orange candy slices, cut up
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates, chopped
- 2 c. walnuts, chopped
- 1 (3 1/4 oz.) can flaked coconut
- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- Sift together the flour and 1/2 teaspoon soda.
- Combine orange slices and dates and mix well.
- Cream the butter until light, then gradually add sugar, beating constantly.
- Add eggs, one at a time, to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
- Combine soda with buttermilk and add alternately with flour mixture, beating well after each addition.
- Add candy mixture and blend. Pour into tube pan (greased and floured) and bake at 300u0b0 for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
