Fish With Tumeric Sauce
- 1 lb white fish (eg Haddock)fillet
- 1 tbsp fat free mayonaise
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3/4 inch piece of fresh tumeric, grated/ground
- 2 small shallots, finely chopped/ground
- 1/2 cup skim milk
- salt to taste
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp oil
- Heat oven to 400 degrees.
- Place fish, skin side down, on oven proof dish.
- Coat top of fish with mayoinaise, sprinkle with salt & pepper.
- Spread and press in bread crumbs.
- Sprinkle lemon juice over crumbs.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- While fish is baking, heat oil in pan, add in tumeric and shallots, fry till fragarant.
- All in flour, make a roux, gradually stir in skimmed milk and addalt to taste.
- Pour over fish.
- Serve with plain white rice and a salad.
