Roma Meat Roll
- 1 1/2 lb. ground meat (beef or turkey)
- approximately 16 saltines, crushed into crumbs
- 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. ground oregano
- 2 c. grated Mozzarella cheese
- Combine meat, egg, saltines, oregano and 2/3 cup tomato sauce. Mix well.
- Pat meat into rectangle (on wax paper) approximately 12-inches long, 8-inches wide and 1/4-inch thick.
- Sprinkle grated cheese over entire surface of meat to within 1/2-inch of edges. Beginning with long edge of meat, roll into roll as a jelly roll, keeping the ends of the roll closed as you roll.
- Use the wax paper to assist you in forming the roll and transferring to cookie sheet for baking.
- Bake 30 minutes at 375u0b0, then pour remaining 1/3 cup tomato sauce over top.
- Return to oven for 15 more minutes.
