Chocolate Saltine Bark (Optional Bacon)
- 1/2 box saltines crackers
- 1 1/2 cups butter
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 3 cups semisweet baking chocolate chips
- 3/4 chopped peanuts
- 1 bag real bacon bits/pieces
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F
- Line cookie sheet with saltine crackers in a single layer
- Chop nuts (and optional combine with bacon) - mix well
- In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar and butter. bring to a boil for 3 minutes.
- When it is bubbly and starts to thicken a bit, immediately pour over saltines and spread so that it covers crackers completely.
- Back for 5-6 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
- Put back in the oven for a few minutes to melt chips.
- Spread melted chocolate and top with chopped nuts/bacon mixture
- Cool completely and then break into pieces
