Apple Cobbler
- 1 stick butter
- 2 C sugar
- 2 C water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1-1/2 cup self rising flour (if using all purpose flour add 2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt)
- 1/3 Cup milk
- 1 Can Apple Pie Filling
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the stick of butter in a 13x9x2 glass baking dish in oven. Set aside. Heat sugar and water in medium sauce pan till dissolves, set aside. Cut shortening nto flour with apstry blender or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and stir with a fork until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn the dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, Roll out into a 12x10x1/4inch rectable. Spread the apple mixture evenly over dough, roll up jelly-roll style beginning with long side. Press edges to seal. cut into @ 14 slices, each @ 1/2 inch thick. Arrange slices in pan with melted butter. Pour sugar sytrup around and over the rolls. Bake 40-45 minutes till golden brown. Cool
- Can be served with ice cream.
