Beef With Broccoli

  1. SLICE beef into thin, bite-sized strips. Wash broccoli and divide into florets, discarding the rest of the broccoli. Cut mushrooms in half. Peel and finely slice garlic. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix together sake, rice vinegar, sesame oil, water, sugar and cornstarch.
  2. HEAT vegetable oil in a wok over med-high heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant (30 sec to 1 min).
  3. ADD mushrooms and saute lightly. Stir in broccoli and beef and saute to brown beef. Cover and cook until broccoli is crisp tender and beef is cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  4. ADD sake-cornstarch mixture and stir until sauce thickens.
