Mrs Trout'S Chocolate Cake
- Cake:
- 1/2 lb melted margerine
- 5 Tb cocoa
- 1 c water
- 2 c sugar
- 2 c flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 c buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Frosting:
- 1 stick margerine
- 5 Tb cocoa
- 6 Tb buttermilk
- 1 lb powdered sugar, sifter
- For cake:
- Preheat oven to 350*
- Boil first three ingredients and allow to cool slightly.
- Sift and add dry ingredients.
- Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla.
- Beat and pour into greased and floured 13 x 9 inch pan
- Bake 25-30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
- Shortly before cake is to be done, boil margerine, cocoa and buttermilk. Add powdered suar and mix, but NOT TOO STIFF
- Pour over cake while frosting and cake are still warm.
