Cheesy Garlic Bread

  1. cut the round loaf of bread in a cross-hatch (checkerboard) pattern-make the cuts about 1 inch apart and cut to but not through the bottom crust.
  2. Pack the rows in one direction with the cheddar and the rows in the other direction with the mozzarella. Melt the stick of butter. Pour the melted butter into the rows. Sprinkle with garlic powder to taste. Scatter the sliced scallions into the rows. Drizzle the top of the bread with olive oil and sprinkle with the poppy seeds.
  3. Wrap tightly in heavy duty aluminum foil and bake at 350u0b0F for 45 min. Uncover the top of the loaf and return to the oven for another 10-15 min to crisp the top. Can be served warm or at room temperature.
