Apple Cobbler

  1. Heat oven to 375. Melt 4 tbs of butter & pour into an 8 inch square cake pan. Spread butter evenly and arrange apples on top. Mix 1/4 tsp of the salt with 1/4 cup of sugar and sprinkle evenly over apples; set aside. Melt remaining 8 tbs butter in a small plan, remove from heat, add milk and egg, beat well. Mix flour, baking powder, the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and the remaining 1/2 tsp salt in a bowl. Stir in milk mixture and beat until smooth. Pour over apples and bake about 30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Serve from pan in squares, fruit side up. Serve plain or with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
