Fudge Nut Bars
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
- 1 Tbsp. oleomargarine
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. quick oats
- 1/4 c. chopped walnuts
- Melt first 4 ingredients over hot water in double boiler. Remove from heat.
- Add vanilla.
- Set aside to cool.
- Blend margarine, brown sugar, egg and vanilla, beating until light. Sift flour, soda and salt together, then add to first mix of margarine, sugar, egg and vanilla.
- Stir in oats.
- Press 2/3 of mixture into a 9 x 9 or 7 x 11 pan that's been greased and floured.
- Spread chocolate mixture over batter, then top with remaining batter by crumbles or bits over chocolate (use fingers and pat down a little).
- Sprinkle with nuts and press into top. Bake at 350u0b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool; cut into bars.
